[latest tech]Blue Whale Challenge : Online Game Is Allegedly Causing Suicides Among Teens

An online game dubbed "The Blue Whale Challenge" has allegedly been linked to the death of over 130 teens. The latest victims linked to this game are two Russian teens, Yulia
Konstantinova and Veronika Volkava. The two school girls jumped off a storey building together. It seems the game has some sort of mind control.

The Blue Whale suicide game is believed to encourage people to kill themselves.

A group administrator assigns daily tasks to members, which they have to complete over 50 days.

The horrifying tasks include self-harming, watching horror movies and waking up at unusual hours, but these gradually get more extreme.

On the 50th day, the controlling manipulators behind the game reportedly instruct the youngsters to commit suicide.

Other reports related to the game include
a 14-year-old girl from Chita that threw herself under a commuter train, A 13-year-old boy that was saved from killing himself after he was spotted perching on the edge of a roof in Lviv, Ukraine and a family that raced to stop a 15-year-old girl from killing herself. The young girl is reportedly now recovering in a hospital in Barcelona, Spain.

In all cases, Russian authorities are probing whether the controversial social media suicide game had influenced the girls to take their own lives.

Yulia left a note saying "End" on her social media page after she posted a picture of a big blue whale.

She also posted this on her profile as well

Cops are said to have launched a probe into the sick craze sweeping Russia – the suicide capital of the world.

It was reported that two teenage boys were detained by police at the scene after allegedly filming the tragic double suicide of Yulia and Veronika.

The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a probe on "incitement to suicide" regarding the pair's death.

Portugal is also not left out of this as one of the cases being investigated involves a youngster who jumped from a viaduct in Vale Serves, Ferreiras (Albufeira, Algarve), onto a train track.
It was suspected the incident might be connected to Blue Whale after it was found the youth, an 18-year-old girl, had the word 'yes' carved into her right thigh along with the word 'F 57', one of the game's hashtags, on her left palm. Both are believed to relate to challenges set by the sickening craze.

In Sines, a 15-year-old boy was hospitalised after carving a whale onto his arm with a sharp object – the whale being another of the game's characteristic symbols.

And more recently, a 15-year-old girl in northern Portugal had to be admitted to hospital after also carving into her forearm.
The girl, from Matosinhos, was admitted to a hospital in the Greater Porto area after mutilating herself.
According to Correio da Manhã, such cases are multiplying throughout the country and are being investigated by the PJ police.

What do we call this?.. I'm short of words but I'm still trying to fathom how a game could get so teens so addicted that they can no longer think straight. Hopefully the developers of the game will be caught soon. All links to the game have been blocked so far.
