The annual May Day rally to mark the celebration of workers' Day for this year was marred in Abuja as workers who gathered for the event refused to allow the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris
Ngige address them.
The workers at the Eagle Square, Abuja as soon as the minister took the microphone to deliver the ceremonial federal government's address to them began booing him, and would not allow him talk.
They kept shouting "we no want" "we no want", and would not stop.
Not even the pleas from their leaders would pacify them.
The minister had to give in to their demands and left the microphone, without his speech.
This is the first time, a workers' day celebration is marked without an address from the federal government, either physically or in the form of a statement.
